We are getting married in Scotland

Our family and closest friends are spread between the United States and Ukraine — and Scotland sits beautifully in between. Natasha’s sister Maryna lives in Edinburgh, so guests have a local on the ground before they even arrive at the venue.

We chose a Tuesday wedding so that the trip itself becomes part of the experience. Edinburgh and London are both within easy reach, and whether you arrive a few days early or stay on after, there is no shortage of wonderful places to explore.

This page covers everything you need for the wedding itself — and we have included Maryna’s personal Edinburgh guide for those who want a head start on the rest of the trip.

Most guests are welcome to arrive whenever works best for their journey. Monday morning is the natural arrival day for anyone joining us for the activities — and if the wedding itself is all you can make, arriving on Tuesday is completely fine. A number of guests will be doing exactly that.

For family, we would love to have you arrive Sunday evening — we will be hosting a private family dinner that night. If Sunday works for friends too, you are more than welcome to come early and settle in.

Activities Day & The Welcome Dinner

The day before the wedding is a day together on the estate. We will be polling guests on what they would most like to do — clay pigeon shooting, archery, whisky tasting, spa, fly fishing and afternoon tea are all on the table — and once we have a sense of numbers we will host 2–3 of them as group activities, covered by us.

Anything that does not draw enough interest to run as a group is still there for the taking — guests are welcome to book it independently with the hotel if they would like to, entirely optional. The full programme and sign-up details will follow once everything is confirmed.

In the evening we are heading to Wilson’s Farm & Kitchen — a working Scottish Borders farm that has been in the same family since 1938, just a short drive from the estate. Think long tables, field-to-fork food, and the kind of setting that does not exist anywhere else. We would love everyone to be there for this one.

The original manor house — grand open fireplaces, 3-metre stucco ceilings and rooms wrapped in Scottish tartans. This is the real thing: the building genuinely used to be a castle, and it feels like it. Highlights include the Castle Balcony Suite (open fire, four-poster, private balcony) and the Castle Junior Suite (first floor, estate views).

One thing worth knowing: these rooms have no air conditioning. Scotland in July is rarely the problem — but if it matters to you, the Estate House next door has you covered.

The newer wing, connected to the manor and home to the spa. Floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the championship golf course, four-poster beds, and a more contemporary feel.

Natasha’s sister Maryna visited the estate in person and recommends this side for anyone who needs air conditioning to sleep. The Estate Suite (76sqm) is the flagship — canopy bed, freestanding bath, sitting area.

Travelling with Children?З дітьми?

Families tend to find the two-bedroom cottages ideal — private space, full kitchen, private terrace, and easy access to Kio House of Kids on the estate. The Courtyard Duplex Suite in the hotel also accommodates two adults and two children.

There are kids clubs on the estate, including Kio House of Kids. On Monday, for any of the hosted activities that are adults only, we will have childcare in place so parents can join in. There is no childcare arranged for the wedding day — if you would like something in place then, or at any other point outside the Monday programme, the wedding coordinator can help you make arrangements directly. Do tell us how many children are coming when you RSVP.

The day before the wedding is planned as a full day together on the estate. We have organised a programme of activities — all hosted and covered by us.

We will be polling guests on their preferences, and will confirm the final 2–3 activities once we have a sense of numbers. If a particular activity doesn’t have enough interest to run as a group, guests are welcome to book it independently with the hotel.

Outside that, there are kids clubs on the estate — do check with the wedding coordinator to make arrangements if you would like something at another time. There is no childcare arranged for the wedding day itself.

From Edinburgh

Most guests will fly into Edinburgh Airport, just over an hour from the venue through beautiful Scottish Borders countryside.

We are running group coaches from Edinburgh on both Sunday afternoon and Monday morning, covered by us — so whether you spend the weekend in Edinburgh or arrive straight from the airport on Monday, there is a coach timed for you. If you are arriving on Tuesday morning instead, a taxi or private transfer from Edinburgh is the simplest way over (see step 3).

From London

The East Coast Mainline from King’s Cross to Berwick-upon-Tweed takes around 2.5 hours — fast, scenic and very comfortable. Schloss Roxburghe is just 30 minutes from Berwick.

Book your train via Trainline or LNER, and we will share local taxi contacts with your formal invitation.

Arriving on the Wedding Day

If you are travelling in on Tuesday rather than staying on the estate, the journey is an easy one to arrange yourself — a taxi or private transfer from Edinburgh takes just over an hour, and there is free parking on site. The wedding coordinator is happy to point you to local taxi and transfer companies.
